Minnesota Group Therapy Fall Conference

Purpose: To increase your effectiveness as a group therapist. The experiential format of this institute provides an opportunity for in-depth study of group interventions: it includes both self-reflective examination and didactic discussion of personal group experiences.

Format: Small group experientials, didactic, and group consultation/mastermind experiential. The experiential format is identical to group conferences organized by the American Group Psychotherapy Association and affiliated group therapy societies.

Learning Outcomes: Participants will be able to

  • Explain the components of therapeutic here-and-now activation and illumination

  • Select group leader interventions to activate and illuminate the here-and-now

  • Identify their own subjective experiences, and explore those of other participants and the group-as-a-whole experiences.

  • Incorporate mindfulness-based approaches and interventions to aid in activating and illuminating the here-and-now experience of members and the group-as-a-whole.

is the Group Coordinator at Carleton College Student Health and Counseling. He is the creator of Group Therapy Central LLC, which is an organization dedicated to providing high quality group therapy education and training. Nate specializes in treating shame-based concerns as they relate to depression, anxiety, and interpersonal relationships. He also specializes in group therapy for college students and is actively involved in the American Group Psychotherapy Association.
